Traffic Calming + Repaving — NDOT engagement underway
Shaterial Starnes from Fairpointe Planning (NDOT's community-engagement consultants) has reached out about the East Nashville Water Infrastructure Replacement Project and the related bikeways/traffic-calming work. The plan from this month's meeting:
1. Develop a reasonable, neighborhood-vetted request — design ideas that match what's actually feasible in this project window. 2. Gather neighbor feedback before the next monthly meeting so the request reflects the whole neighborhood, not just the room. 3. Present the package at a community meeting, then submit to NDOT/Fairpointe ahead of their August or September community-engagement meeting (date being finalized).
Maggie is leading the compilation — she's already done a lot of legwork mapping out specific ideas (concrete-island beautification at Douglas & 5th, a possible roundabout at 7th & Richardson in front of the park, permanent concrete at successful pylon spots, bulb-outs on Cleveland cross-streets, plus updated bike-lane questions for NDOT).
We especially want to hear from the West side of Cleveland Park — fewer voices from there this month, and the West side has its own street-by-street concerns. If you're West of 6th, please reach out.

Pool + Pool Party
Pool access and hours continue to be a sore spot — the schedule is hard for working families and the new location has its own learning curve. Neighbors are gathering ideas for improvements that we can carry into pool-funding conversations with Metro.
In the meantime: the annual Pool Party + BBQ is Saturday, July 18 at noon. Bring the family, swim, eat, hang out. Event details + RSVP. The flyer is up — share it with neighbors.

Friends of Cleveland Park + Fall Fest — Saturday, September 26
Save the date: Cleveland Park Fall Fest, Saturday, September 26, 2026. This is the launch event and first fundraiser for Friends of Cleveland Park (FoCP), the new 501(c)(3) being formed as a sibling to CPNA. The festival will be free, family-friendly, all afternoon into evening — vendor village, food, music, kids' zone, pickleball tournament, and a twilight movie. Full plan: Fall Fest 2026.
Enthusiasm in the pavilion was strong. We're already lining up:
- Neighborhood vendors — putting together a list of who we want and who can ask each of them. If you've got a connection to a local business that should have a presence at the festival, tell us. - Sponsorships — businesses can support the festival (and FoCP's first-year priorities) at a few different levels. Tiers are being finalized — if your business wants to be in the conversation early, reach out. - Volunteers — vendors-day-of, setup/breakdown, kids' zone, pickleball tournament, music coordination. FoCP's first-year priorities (from the May meeting): pool improvements, an urban orchard or pollinator garden, community art, and a neighborhood bulletin board.
